Hike New York’s highest peak with a trained and licensed guide. We’ll meet and hike from Adirondack Loj. Gear shakedown and brief at 6:30am, hitting the trail no later than 7am.
This trip demands a high level of physical fitness in order to complete it within the available daylight hours. OMG reserves the right to deny participation if group safety will be compromised through an individual's participation.
This program is a guided day hike to Mount Marcy (elevation 5,343’, 15.8 miles round-trip with approximately 3,562’ of elevation gain). We’ll meet at the Adirondack Loj Information Center at the end of Adirondack Loj Rd at 6:30am. Note that parking at the Loj costs up to $18. Please arrive packed and ready to hike. Upon meeting on the porch of the Information Center, we’ll go through group introductions, a trip overview, and embark on our journey to the highest point in the entire state. Along the way we’ll discuss safe backcountry travel and enjoy the rich natural history of the Adirondacks.
Prior hiking experience is highly recommended. Good physical condition, proper clothing, and proper equipment are a must. Please come prepared with items from our Day Hike packing list. If you need to borrow something from the list, please let us know.
Note that the listed timeframe is a best estimate based on prior group hikes. However, we cannot guarantee the time that we will return to the trailhead.
