Street & Nye Mountains (January 25, 2025)
On January 25, 2025, we summited Street and Nye Mountains, enjoying sunny conditions and firm trails. Starting from the Adirondack Loj, we wore snowshoes for the 8+ inches of snow, though some hikers used microspikes. Both summits marked milestones for Petra (#2 and #3/46), and recent trail maintenance made for smooth progress. By 2:20 pm, we returned, wrapping up a rewarding winter hike.

Phelps Mountain (December 7, 2024)
On December 7, 2024, we summited Phelps Mountain, enjoying clear skies and deep snow that made for smooth trails and stunning views of the Great Range. Starting from Adirondack Loj, we used snowshoes the entire way, with Petra tackling her first High Peak and mastering snowy descents with a smile. By the time we returned at 2:30 pm, she was tired but thrilled after a memorable and rewarding day in the mountains.

Spend 4 minutes to stay in shape year-round for ice climbing
To stay in shape for ice climbing year-round, incorporate the Tabata method into your routine. Making your workout as real as possible by hanging on real ice tools, with gloves, will do wonders for building your strength for ice season.

Lower & Upper Wolfjaw Mountains (Nov. 5, 2024)
On November 5, 2024, we summited Lower and Upper Wolfjaw Mountains under sunny skies, enjoying quiet trails and stunning views. Starting from The Garden at 6:45 am, we completed the 10-hour hike, with Tom marking his 12th and 13th Adirondack High Peaks. Upper Wolfjaw’s summit was especially memorable, with warm sun tempting us to linger. Next time, we’d skip Johns Brook Lodge and take the Wolfjaw Trail for a more direct ascent.
