Jarrod Blundy

Founder, Chief Experience Officer, Guide

That’s me! 👋

Jarrod may have only discovered the Adirondacks in 2021, but he’s no stranger to adventure. A graduate of the Outdoor & Environmental Recreation program at Central Michigan University, Jarrod believes the best learning happens when you’re just a little outside your comfort zone — and where better to push the boundaries than in the great outdoors? He cut his teeth as a guide interning for the Adventure Programs & Education (APE) department at Fort Carson in Colorado. An Eagle Scout, Jarrod also served as Camp Director for Firelands Scout Reservation, helping young people to be the best version of themselves using outdoor living as a medium. Jarrod has travelled across the USA to guide backpacking, rock climbing, and whitewater adventures for folks of all ages and abilities.

Now in the Adirondacks, Jarrod is finding all kinds of new outdoor ventures to master! He’s exploring the ADK — the horizontal and vertical — by bike, boat, ski, and foot. Jarrod is a Leave No Trace Master Educator, and a New York State Licensed Guide for hiking, camping, canoeing and kayaking, Tier II single-pitch ice climbing, and Tier I multi-pitch rock climbing. When he’s not running things here at OMG, he also freelance guides for other local outfits.

Phin

Mountain Guide-Dog-in-Training

Phin is our four-legged guide’s best friend, and mountain guide-dog-in-training. He, too, can’t get enough of the ADK and loves to join on any adventures he can. He makes a great motivator, always encouraging you with that golden retriever grin to see what’s around the next bend.

As long as you’re cool with it, and the activity is dog-friendly, Phin just might come along for the trip. 🐾

Jo Moore

Supporter in Chief

I’d be remiss not mention my wonderful wife, Jo, who supports the endeavors at Onward Mountain Guides. She’s the original Adventure Buddy, the emergency contact if things go south, and all-around encourager who made OMG a reality.

She provides sound feedback on trip plans, and offers her extensive medical training as a Physician’s Assistant in the local emergency room to make sure Jarrod’s up-to-speed on all things first aid.

Oh, and she came up with the name Onward Mountain Guides!
